Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (TP)

Udupi, June 14: Union Minister and MP Shobha Karandlaje has instructed the officials to stop the work on Santhekatte underpass temporarily and resume the work after September.

Taking into the concern the situation of the national highway, she ordered the officials to fill the underpass using dug out mud and rocks temporarily.

SP Hackay Akshay Machindra and DC Kurma Rao had asked for a temporary solution to the Santhekatte underpass. The SP had requested MP to increase the working hours of workers involved in the underpass construction to 16 hours so that the work could be completed before any disaster occurred.

Following the onset of monsoon, the NH is in a precarious situation. If the underpass gets flooded then there is a likelihood of collapse of the NH and so keeping the safety of the NH in mind, Shobha Karandlaje ordered for a temporary stoppage of work.

MP Shobha Karandlaje has also ordered all government authorities to co-ordinate and work for the betterment of the district, in the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting held at the Zilla Panchayat hall in Udupi.

She said in the meeting, “All government officials must visit MLAs and discuss about the problems related to their concern areas and seek help from them. As except for Sunil Kumar, the rest of them are new and so they are unaware of the previous work. So she said all authorities must take half an hour of their time to visit MLAs and discuss about the progress of their earlier works.”

Authorities from different departments were present in the meeting. They discussed about the work progress of their respective departments. Udupi district stands first in distribution of PM Swanidhi yojan as 35,000 kisan cards are to be distributed.

She ordered to set a timeline and to complete 100% distribution of kisan card
by next the DISHA meeting.

An official of the National Highway Authority informed the MP that, “The work of land acquisition will be completed within 15 days, which has got delayed due to the elections. Work on Indrali Railway Bridge is in progress. Already a payment for Rs 3.5 crore payment has been made. A total of 485 tons of steel is required for the construction out of which 380 tons of steel is ready and another 93 tons of steel is being dispatched to Hubli factory. The work will be completed by December,” he said.

Shobha Karandlaje informed the fisheries department to take precautionary  measures to protect the sea shore from breaching during floods. He also directed the officials to interact with local fishermen to assess the flood situation along the coastal line.

CEO of Zilla panchayat informed that a total of Rs.77 lacs has been spent to supply drinking water in the district as 103 grama panchayats are facing  water shortage. Grama panchayats have been requested to supply water through tankers using funds from group-1.

The documentary video of success SLRM centre was played in the meeting. Members of Sanjeevini Mahila group go door to door and collect dry waste which is converted into useful resources. As central government has asked for the documentation of the progress of SLRM centre it was created.

The CEO of Zilla panchayat has asked MP for remedial measures to be taken to dispose of sanitary pads and diapers, as they cannot be recycled or disposed easily.

National highway Authority of India officials were not present in the meeting,

MP Shobha Karandlaje said a meeting in the DC's office will be scheduled within two days where authorities of National Highway RO, PD and contractor must be present.

MLAs Yashpal Suvarna, Suresh Shetty Gurme, Gururaj Shetty Gantihole and A Kiran Kumar Kodgi, Kota Shrinivas Poojary were present in the meeting.

This place was digged in 1st week of January 2023 next day again filled, then again digged in the third week of January 2023 now mid June again fill then in September again dig. Who will pay all these expenses its not a small highway NH 66. The contractor should be jailed for not making soil test before starting work and later found the big rock bed underneath. This is what happen when un educated leaders are elected.

No Thank You. Hand over the project report and report about completion of work till date along with expenditure report. It’s not your 40% BJP govt anymore to order but pay the contractors due till the period your govt was in power.
