Kasargod, Jun 14: The Adoor station police have apprehended a panchayat member for the alleged harassment of a minor boy by providing him with drugs.

The arrested individual is Mohammed Kunhi, a resident of Muliar Povval and a leader of the Muslim League. He was taken into custody on Tuesday evening, and a case has been registered against him.

The incident occurred during the night of April 11, and the boy lodged a complaint at the police station regarding the harassment he experienced after being given drugs.

The accused had been evading arrest and had sought anticipatory bail from the high court. However, the court, upon taking up the case, ordered the suspect to appear before the investigating team. As he complied and presented himself at the police station, the police arrested him and produced him in the Kasargod court on Wednesday.

The court has remanded him to judicial custody for a period of two weeks.
