Udupi: Retail chicken prices skyrocket, touch Rs 290 per kilo

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (MS)

Udupi, Jun 15: Chicken meat lovers are in shock as the price of the same has skyrocketed. The price per kg which was Rs 160 two years ago, has reached unbelievable Rs 290.

Without skin chicken meat price per kg is between Rs 260 to 290 in the market. A few days ago it was Rs 230 per kg. With skin it is priced between Rs 220 to 260. Mutton is being sold at Rs 700. Bannur special mutton is costing Rs 800 per kg.

Poultry farm owners say, “The prices of pulses, rice husk, soya which are used as feed for chicken have increased. Due to increase in fuel prices, the transportation cost is more. As chickens eat less food due to humid conditions, the fat will be less in the birds. In addition, many die due to heat. Hence, the production of chicken meat is reduced and the price has gone high.”

Sellers say that demand for chicken is high due to no supply of fresh fish in the coastal region.

In addition, the rates of tomato, ginger, beans and coriander leaves are doubled. Locally produced vegetables are not available in the market.

Better to rear your own country chickens (preferably Kadaknath), which are much more tastier and nutritious than broiler, if you have got a backyard!!

Its basic logic. When one food taken out of supply chain (here it's beef) food supply chain will get effected, all the beef eater will switch to chicken and those who cannot afford high priced chicken will go for pulse/veg.

Chicken business is like a Mafia business -- prices -- There are a select group who control prices -- all well known -- a small farmer -- broiler farm will not get this price generally -- no doubt input costs have gone up -- but wild fluctuations is purely manipulation -- once rains start less people go out -- no festivals -- marriages -- prices will come down ---- totally erratic movements mainly because some groups make a quick killing --

Unbelievable ! Internatinal Loans are borrowed on US$ Interest due need to be paid in US$ ? India's foreign earnings must be enhanced (increased). Modi few years back had forecasted 5 trillion $ Economy (Official Rupee/$ Ex rate and not based on Naliana's economics) Are the Bhaktas aware of ereal Economic picture of our country ? The are under the impression that Modi is World renowned Economist (Chai class) and can lead India in forfront of World economy. Also, Modi went to so many countries and gave lectures on many subjects.👋🙈🙉🙊

Outstanding external debt of the Government of India, which was Rs 55.87 lakh crore as on March 31, 2014, has gone up to Rs 155.31 lakh crore by March 31, 2023. That means, Modi govt has trebled the debt in 9 years. The present debt requires Rs 11 lakh crores just for paying interest. We are in a vicious economic circle. To service the debt and interest, govt will have to find various revenue boosting methods. That means govt has to collect more revenue through various methods. This will naturally increase the overall prices and eventually, we Indians have to pay prices through noses. Also, Modi has allowed 39 Gujarathis to get out of the country, which resulted in the write off of large amount of NPAs. Our earlier PMs either studied or knew Economics and Finance, hence they controlled the external debt and the prices inside the country.
