Jammu Sikhs Mulling Criminal Proceedings Against Kageri over Gita Remark

Bangalore, Jul 21 (PTI): A Sikh body in Jammu and Kashmir today said it is contemplating to move court against Karnataka Education Minister for his reported remarks that ''those who oppose the teachings of Bhagavad Gita in schools should quit the country''.

"We are contemplating to initiate criminal proceedings against Karnataka Education Minister Vishwanath Hegde Kageri for his communal statements," JK Sikh United Front chief Sudershan Singh Wazir told reporters.

"Kageri's statements brought out the true communal and fascists agenda of BJP to fore," he said.

The former JK state Gurudwara Parbandak Board chairman said the BJP leader's statement that Gita is the only belief which has originated from India and all other religions have come from outside is shocking.

"He is perhaps ignorant of the fact that there are other beliefs like Sikhism, Buddhism and Jainism, which have also originated from the same motherland," he said, adding that the Sikhs will not tolerate any campaign of hatred.

Kageri had reportedly remarked at Kolar in Karnataka that those opposing inclusion of Bhagavad Gita in school curriculum should leave the country.

His comments had come after the Karnataka government issued a controversial circular on teaching of Bhagavad Gita in primary and higher secondary schools in the state.

Minister should know the constitutional responsiblities and accountability. They should maintain the dignity of the chair. Individual opinion cannot be aired in the public.Appropriate authorities should make a note of the statement and should take action as per the prevailing laws of the state and soverign country.Integrity of the state is more important than the cheap publcity.

The Honourble minister should know that every Indiian has Indian blood. I do not understand whether the minister is using coersion or conversion in propogation in religion. I am confused whether minister has read the Bhagavatgita and understood it. I appreciate if the Minister practiced gita in his life he would not have made the such statement.

Different people posted different version of their opinions/views in their own way.According to me compulsory imposition of any rule like compulsory Geeta teaching in educational institutions is uncalled for. This is deliberate attempt to hurt the feelings of other community people.First of all let me ask first does any one of the cabinet ministers know or understood the meaning of what is Geeta. They themselves undermining their dignity/respect.Nothing else.

Very sad to note that cabinet minister like Kageri made such an unhealthy and communal/ sensational statement.First of all let him study the Indian constitution thoroughly and then impose a rule.I think he is not a fully qualified/educated person. All his behavioral aspects/attitude projects his complete personality. After all who is the hell he is to impose compulsory rule to learn Geeta.

Whoever are interested let them learn under respected Guru, temples or any other places which are more convenient but in Democratic country educational institutions are not the right place where all community children are studying. This is not the way to get mileage/name or fame.

Do some other constructive works for the development of the state/country.Don't bring any religious matters which will lead to disharmony amongst other community people.Let them live peacefully without any fear.Politicians are the one who spoils everything and divide the country for their own benefit.Vote Bank, nothing else..Jai Ho Karnataka.

Instead of teaching it in schools let the minister distribute one copy of Gita to each Hindu family. I believe there are many families in Hindus who have never seen or read Gita in their life. Congress and BJP have so many corrupt and shamless leaders. If they have ever read Gita in their lifetime, our country would have been a better place. Let the Hindus learn and respect Gita first. Then let us ask others to follow some aspects of Gita.

Kageri and all of us respect all indian religions like sikhism, jainism and buddism.

In fact Guru Nanak was Vaishnavite and was in Anantha Padmanabha Temple in Thiruvananthapuram before establishing sikhism.

Many Hindu sacred places like Haridwar and Hrushikesh are also sacred places for Sikhs.

Many sikh gurus like Guru Gobind Singh [incarnation of Lakshman] fought against Mughals to protect both Hindus and Sikhs.

This sikh body must be an agent of Congress. Congress is using all dirty methods to suppress patriotic forces like Ramdev and Anna Hazare.

Kick out Congress and other anti national elements from the power in the next elections.

Elect only those who protect our country and civilisation.

    Support Kageri

Temple Priest have no time and eagerness to teach Gita to their folks. They are busy with politics and spending crores of funds recieved from BJP Govt. Let the minister drive one citizen out of this country. Then i will salute his courage.I wonder with level of mentality of a Education Minister future of India is really doubtful.

This man has become mentally bankrupt. I think he has not even attended primary school, thats why he is primary education minister. A little bit more education would have put some sense into his brains and control on his tongue.
Just to please a few fanatic crowds during public rally's these people utter all this garbage.

Where this state Karnataka is leading to. Everyday we get frightening information that are communal, corruption and so on. Since the BJP rule that say it is a party with a difference has proved right that whatever happens in karnataka ruled BJP is different. It took congress 60 years to make a mess of the state and it took only 3 years for BJP to make a total mess of not only the state but also the life of people.

It is time that the voters start thinking differently from now onwards before the next lok sabha and assembly election. It is time that we exercise our franchise in a more demorcratic way than abuse it. Anna Hazare had rightly said "He feels very sad about the voters and their mind set". For the sake of Liquor and few hundred rupee notes we have sold ourself for 5 years. Change we need and we have another 2 years to change it for Lok sabha and assembly election.

    One irrational and irresponsible
    statement made under the pressure
of his ego is going to put him to
    many problems. Minister of
    Education might be educated, but
simply to show his power, he
    made this statement which will
create serious problems. Let him make an open public apology and make it straight at
    the earliest or resign peacefully.
