Mangaluru, Jun 20: State BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel strongly criticized the Congress government in the state, accusing them of failing to distribute the rice promised to the people under the Anna Bhagya scheme.
During a media interaction on Tuesday, June 20, he stated that the government had not procured the rice for distribution.
"The Congress leaders have not approached prime minister Modi or the union minister of food and civil supplies to discuss the requirement of 2 lac tonnes of rice for the state. Instead, the Congress government is blaming the central government for the rice shortage. The prime minister distributed 10 kg of rice to people during the Covid-19 pandemic. The central government has been providing 5 kg of rice for the past nine years," Kateel remarked.
"The Congress party made a guarantee during the elections that they would distribute ten kg of rice. On whose support did they make this promise? The Congress government should distribute 15 kg of rice, including the rice provided by the central government. If the Congress government has any moral responsibility, they should distribute 10 kg of rice. They are deceiving the people," he added.
Kateel also criticized the government for increasing electricity rates, which has negatively affected the middle class and the business community. He warned that the Congress would bring instability to the state and claimed that Siddaramaiah would lead the state's economy to a condition similar to that of Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
