Puttur: Congress worker assaulted, threatened with murder

Puttur, Jun 20: Congress worker Praveen Acharya, a resident of Narimogaru was assaulted at Purushakatte here.

Allegedly, Indiranagar's Raktheshwarikatte, resident whose first name is also Praveen assaulted the Congress worker after barging into his residence and threatened to kill the later.

The assault was reportedly, the result of political rivalry. Praveen Acharya, the victim of the assault had deserted BJP and joined Congress party a few months ago. Praveen Acharya had campaigned hard during the elections and succeeded in pulling some BJP votes. Praveen Acharya was an active Congress member of booth No 188.

Praveen Acharya has been admitted to Puttur government hospital for treatment.

A case in this connection is registered at Puttur town police station.
