Bengaluru, Jun 23: The State Government will consult legal and constitutional experts on the reservation mess created by the Basavaraj Bommai-led BJP government ahead of the assembly election after the ensuing budget session and take a decision in accordance with the Constitution.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah gave this assurance when a delegation of
Panchamasali Veerashaiva community demanded that the community should be included in the Central list of Backward Classes.
The Panchamasali Veerashaiva community delegation was led by Jaya
Mrithyunjaa Swamiji along with legislators belonging to the community. The delegation demanded that the Panchamasali community must be included in the 2A Backward Community list of the State and in the Centre’s list of
Other Backward Communities (OBC) as it would enable the community to come up in the mainstream.
Siddaramaiah said the hasty and unscientific decision of the previous
government had created more problems. Taking a hasty decision without a proper consultation will lead to problems. Any decision on the reservation issue must be within the constitutional framework, he said.
Congress MLA Vinay Kulkarni and 14 other legislators belonging to the Panchamasali Veerashaiva community were part of the delegation.
