Mining Report: All Hopes on SC, None on Govt, says Santosh Hegde

Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore

Bangalore, Jul 23: Lokayuta Justice Santosh Hegde, whose leaked report on illegal mining in the state has created quite a storm in the state, said on Saturday July 23 that he has no hopes on the state government taking any action on the report.

He said in an interview that as even the chief minister B S Yeddyurappa has been named in the report, the state government may not take any action and added that all his hopes now rested on the Supreme Court.

He also said that it was no suprise that Yeddyurappa had denied any wrong doing and refused to step down from office.

The report, which is yet to be submitted, names over 500 people across party lines, including four BJP ministers, state JD(S) chief H D Kumaraswamy and some Congress leaders. It states that the illegal mining in Bellary has incurred a loss close to Rs 1,800 crore to the exchequer since 2009.

He also clarified that government is not under any obligation to accept his report. He said that he has evidence of the illegal mining going on in the state and has included it in the report. He expressed his full confidence in the SC-appointed Central Empowered Committee to take the report seriously.

The very fact that Justice Santhosh Hegde has named people from all relevant parties in his report - it is very clear that he has made a very honest attempt to project the situation in the true perspective without any reservations. This great and honest man should not retire at thIS stage and he must be retained for at least another two years so that he is able render justice to The Nation in an appropriate manner.

From the way Justice Hedge has conducted himself, it is evident that he has not worked as a party man but submitted his findings as he has perceived them.

There is an old saying 'THAT IN A KINGDOM OF BLIND - ITS IS FOLLY TO BE WISE' Here we have this just and honest man striking his head against a stone wall.

I share the feelings of thousands of people and hope that The Supreme Court will come out with the RIGHT ORDER.

1.The mining should be strictly controlled by the central govt in whole of India and not only in Karnataka. Why central govt behaves in a partisan way?

    2. Who will pay for the roads damaged due to heavy trucks carrying mineral ores?

We were happy to know witness the truth of illegal mining unravelled by your goodselves on the one hand and felt very sorry that the same was leaked prior to submission of the same by your good office to the Governement of Karnataka. Now, not only people of Karnataka but also the whole of India knows that you are fighting for the righteousness in the Society. I pray to Lord Krishna that as he lead Arjuna in Mahabharat, he will also give the similar strength to yourselves and the people alike in this mission. The younger generation, of which you care much about, will certain stand by yourselves, Sir. The bigger the cause, greater the chances of getting obstacles.

So far, no authority working under the Government of Karnataka had gut to enquire into the irregularities of the Chief Minister himself. It is yourselves, who dared to put the misdeeds of the Chief Minister himself on record. There will not smoke without fire. Therefore, the Supreme Court of India will certainly uphold your findings. I pray to Lord God of the Universe, Shrikrishna, to lead us kindly in order reach the ultimate goal set by Civil Society members like you. Your unbiased findings will certainly be the source of evidence for probe at national level. And it remains always a source of inspiration for persons like me.
    Thank you Sir,
    Narasimha

Supreme court and govt should take strong action against illegal mining and culprits should be in Tihar jail as soon as possible. Unless supreme court intervens in this case our natural resources will be destroyed.
