Kaup, Jun 24: Police of Kaup arrested one more accused in the case of life threat to Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna, over the hijab issue in June 2022, from Mumbai airport on June 22.

Mohammed Asif (32), resident of Bajpe, is the arrested accused. When the hijab issue was at its peak in June 2022, some people threatened Yashpal Suvarna on social media.

A case was registered in Kaup police station in this connection.

Police have already arrested the main accused Mohammed Shafi (26), resident of Kenjaru near Bajpe. Asif was absconding. Police who got a tip off that Asif was arriving at the Mumbai International Airport took him into custody. He is produced in court and sent to police custody.

It may be recalled, Mohammed Shafi from Bajpe was arrested by Kaup police in relation to the case in June 2022. Shafi had posted a death threat message against Yashpal Suvarna and Pramodh Muthalik. Mohammed Asif who had helped Shafi in the crime.
