Free travel for women in Karnataka boosts temple tourism

Bengaluru, Jun 24 (IANS): The Shakthi scheme for free travel by women launched by the Congress government in Karnataka, has also boosted temple tourism in the state.

During this weekend, lakhs of women have come out in large numbers to throng Hindu pilgrimage sites.

Buses from Bengaluru and all district headquarters are running in full capacity, with women are travelling in big groups.

Sources have said that the success of the scheme is proving to be a major setback for the BJP in the state as the party's stake as protector of the Hindu religion is being challenged.

BJP sources have said that members of their families are also availing free travel under the scheme, making it difficult to convince their kin against the ruling Congress.

During the monsoon, Hindu pilgrimage centres do not usually see a mad rush amid torrential rain.

Meanwhile, Stree Shakthi groups are organising the pilgrimage trips for women, some of which started early Saturday morning.

Some of the preferred destinations include Dharmastahala, Kukke Subramanya, Kollur, Mysuru Chamundeshwari hills, Savadatti Yallamma and Koodala Sangama.

The people are also visiting their family deities.

According to an official statement issued on Saturday by transport department, more than 6.57 crore women have travelled to various destinations using buses between June 11-23.

The total female population of Karnataka is 3 crores which includes women of all ages. If 6.57 crore (or 65.7 million) have travelled, all the women with their children and grandmothers etc. would have travelled at least twice in the 14 day period reported in the article. What an exodus! Men were left high and dry!!!!! How long will this travel bug continue? For the rest of Siddhu/Shiva Congress term in Karunataka? If it does, families will be disrupted....... Stree Shakti organizations will need to have Street chapters to cope with the demand.

It is good to note that temple visits have increased due to the provision of free rides for women. If the provision had been for men only, it is likely that bars and wine shops would have been the only businesses benefiting financially.

The more woman travels better for economy because women spends more money for purchases from clothing to food and daily life. This movement of women will create many jobs from every sector. Good news is all these happy women vote for congress now on and also impose thier families to vote for Congress. Congress is the only government is fair for everyone.

Are the temples required to keep account books and need to file returns for IT purpose. ? If so, government revenues may increase and compensate for the losses on account of free bus travel .

This is the best scheme, the women are now free to go wherever, visit their parents, take their children to school. The punya of this goes to INC and they will be blessed for their efforts. Bommai, Raghupati and others only looted the state and exchequer with no concern for the citizens.

Congress has proven and time tested ideas to stimulate economy and create employment. Soon Indians will copy ‘Karnataka Model’ a No.1 state in India and people of all BJP ruled states will flock to Karnataka for employment, peaceful and quality life and future for their children. All MNCs and FDI who were holding back on investments in Karnataka during BJP will now make beeline into Karnataka. After May 14, 2023 mood of Karnataka has changed 180 degrees for better.

Temples are awash with cash; perhaps what they saved in bus fares they drop in the temple coffers. And the government will laugh all the way to the bank as it regulates the accounts of those temples.
