Kundapur, Jun 26: NRI hotel entrepreneur Anand Poojary shouldered the responsibility of providing the vegetarian cuisine to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his recent three-day visit to the USA.
Aloor Anand Poojary took care of the cuisine of PM Modi who stayed in Washington DC. This is the fifth time that Anand is entrusted with the responsibility of food of PM Modi.
Ananda Poojary and his wife Sumita have been residing in Washington DC for the past 35 years and run Woodland Hotel. Anand is the son of Badiya Poojary and Girija couple, the residents of Kallangady Mane of Aloor village of the taluk.

As Anand’s hotel is located in Washington DC, food catering of Indian VIPs is done by him.
As 2023 is international year of Siri Dhanya, the dinner special was bisi bele baath consisting of various pulses. PM Modi also likes Gujarati style kichdi, dhokla, raw or boiled fresh vegetables and fruits the same was provided. Modi also likes south Indian dishes like idli chutney and vada sambar.
It is learnt that, Modi gave instructions to Anand not to take hardship of procuring vegetables from India thinking that he needs only Indian made vegetables. Modi asked Anand to use any local vegetables which he is not familiar with.
