Mangaluru, Jun 26: Two persons were arrested by Surathkal police in connection to two-wheeler thefts and chain snatching.
The arrested are identified as Habeeb Hassan from Krishnapura and Mohammed Faisal from Ullal. As many as 12 cases among which 8 are chain snatching and four bike thefts have been cracked after the duo’s arrest. Rs 14 lac worth goods were recovered in the process.
Both the accused are habitual offenders, informed police. Habeeb Hassn has 35 cases filed against him and Mohammed Faisal has 15 cases in Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Mangaluru city police limits. Mohammed Faisal was convicted in one of the cases under Mangaluru south police stations limits.
The accused used to target elderly women. Stolen two-wheelers were used for chain snatching.
Police commissioner Kuldeep Jain announced a reward of Rs 8000 to the police team which cracked the case.
