Beltangady, Jun 27: An elderly man got his golden chain in neck snatched by a bike borne youth, who on the pretext of giving him a drop, made the elderly man sit on his bike and snatched the chain as the elderly person got down from his bike.

A complaint in this regard is filed in Beltangady police station. The incident occurred two days ago near Suvarna Complex in Beltangady market area.

Jattanna Gowda (78), a resident of Hokkila Mane of Nada village, had come to Beltangady market in the morning on his grandson’s bike. After buying groceries, he was walking towards the bus stand. As he neared Statebank, a bike-borne youth approached him and spoke to him as if he knew him and made Jattanna sit on his bike. He offered him a drop. Jattanna sat on the bike and was dropped near Moorumarga. The youth drove a little further near Suvarna Complex and snatched the chain from the neck of Jattanna as he got down and escaped from the spot.

The value of the chain is Rs 1.5 lac. It weighed 40 grams. Beltangady police are investigating further.

Why such an elderly person was wearing a gold chain when he is going to the market unaccompanied?? It's an open invitation to robbery!! Instead, please wear a duplicate chain if at all you want to show off💪!!
