Mangaluru: Bakrid round the corner – DC order prevention of illegal cattle transportation

Mangaluru, Jun 27: District level meeting was held at the office of deputy commissioner (DC) Mullai Mugilan on Monday June 26, in order to prevent illegal slaughter and transportation of cattle in the wake of Bakrid festival that is going to be celebrated on June 29.

The DC said, “All departments have to coordinate and ensure that law and order is not disturbed during Bakrid festival. If illegal cattle transportation is found, public should call 112 and inform the same. Their identity should be kept confidential.”

The DC also asked to share online software that gives cattle transportation permission with the police department and prevent the illegal transportation of cattle.

Deputy commissioner of police Amshu Kumar, SP CB Ryshyanth, Mangaluru City Corporation commissioner Ravikumar, zilla panchayat deputy secretary Ananda Kumar, deputy director of animal husbandry department Dr Arun Kumar Shetty and pollution control board officer Dr Ravi were present.

    Male calves are being reared in Jokatte area during every festival just for the sake of slaughter and it is happening openly without any fear. The calves are transported illegally and gazed in the SEZ area where there is abundant grass.
