Mangaluru, Jun 27: A destitute who was rescued three months ago, was reunited with his family by White Doves under the aegis of its founder Corrine Rasquinha on Tuesday June 27.
Kamlesh Ram (30) who hails from Palamu Jharkhand was found by White Doves near Valencia in the month in March. Kamlesh Ram was rescued and taken care of.
It is said that Kamlesh was working at Hotel Poonja International in the city. Kamlesh had returned to Mangaluru from his hometown. His mobile phone was switched off after he reached Mangaluru. Both his family and hotel staff searched for his whereabouts but in vain.
Founder of White Doves Corrine Rasquinha said, “Three months ago, I received a call saying, a man who was looking mentally ill, is jumping from walls. When I visited the spot, Kamlesh was lying on the road with both his legs injured. Meanwhile, Pandeshwar police constables arrived to the location and did not show much interest in the man. Kamlesh’s mobile phone was damaged which made it difficult for us to contact his family members. We are happy that Kamlesh has reunited with his family after three months. If police had admitted Kamlesh to Wenlock when he was found on the streets, there would have been a record filed at the hospital which could have helped the hotel staff or his family to locate him.”
White Doves' manager Jerald managed to trace Kamlesh’s family in Jharkhand.
On June 27, Kamlesh Ram was reunited with his family. His wife, child, brother, sister-in-law and wife’s brother reached Mangaluru to take him back home. Kamlesh’s wife was very emotional during their reunion.
Kamlesh’s family had filed an FIR with the Jharkhand police shortly after he went missing, but they suggested to enquire with the Mangaluru police. Kamlesh’s sister-in-law said, “We were frequently in touch with the hotel HR, but he too had not given much details about the disappearance of Kamlesh.”
This was 415th reunion undertaken by the White Doves.
