Bantwal, Jun 27: The Vittal police station has made two arrests in connection with the assault case on a couple traveling in an auto-rickshaw on their way to Sadashiva temple in Kolnadu village of the taluk.
The arrested individuals are Munna alias Sudarshan, a resident of Paturu village, Manjeshwar taluk, Kasargod district, and Dhan Raj alias Sudarshan Yane Munna, a resident near Medu Katthila Anganwadi, Bantwal taluk.
A case was registered at the Vittal police station based on the complaint filed by Jayantha, son of Sitaram Poojary and resident of Paltaje, Salettur village, Bantwal taluk. The complaint named Mumman alias Sudarshan, Sharath, Dhanu, and Uday as the accused.
According to Jayanth's complaint with the Vittal police station, on the night of June 25, while he, his wife, child and friend were traveling in an auto rickshaw to the hospital for treatment, a group of individuals comprising Munna alias Sudarshan, Sharat, Dhanu, and Uday intercepted their auto rickshaw on two motorcycles near a wine shop at Salethur. They attacked Jayanth when he tried to intervene after they laid hands on his wife. The assault ceased when his wife and friend intervened, and the group threatened Jayanth's life before leaving the scene.
The Vittal police registered a case in connection with the incident and successfully apprehended two of the accused individuals.
