Inter-caste love: Kolar man kills daughter, Dalit youth ends life

Kolar, Jun 28 (IANS): A man in Karnataka's Kolar district killed his daughter over her relationship with a Dalit youth, police said on Wednesday.

According to the police, the boy committed suicide after hearing about the incident.

The victims have been identified as 20-year-old Keerti and 24-year-old Gangadhar, both residents of Bodagurki village.

Keerthi belonged to the Golla (Yadav) community.

Police said the victims were in a relationship for a year and Gangadhar had also approached the girl's father, Krishna Murthy, for marriage.

However, Keerti's parents did not approve of their relation and asked her to stop seeing him.

On Tuesday, Keerti and her father got into a heated argument over the issue and in a fit of rage, he strangled her to death.

When Gangadhar came to know of Keerti's death, he jumped in front of the Lalbagh Express train while it passed through the village, the police added.

The Kamasamudra police have registered a case in this connection and initiated investigation.

Unbelieveable.Father kills his own daughter because she fell in love with a boy from different caste?Boy even came to ask his daughters hand .Not only to play behind him.Now two lives are gone He will have to go now to jail.and what he has with his fight and not agreeing because he is from different cast? What is his caste now ?More lower than other.I still cant understand how fathercan kill her instead of blessing her or giving good advice to come to him if any trobles are there ?Heartfelt sympathies to family .May their souls unite in Heaven and find peace there.

This is the childhood infatuation which every human goes through, normal part of human sexuality; but most outgrow as they mature! In some unfortunate cases, it grows into deep love 💖, which is very risky to separate by force so it's better to have a middle path and resolve rather than resort to such gory acts! The father has indulged in a big crime by killing his daughter; he had no right to do so!!

Very sad incident after unacceptable honour killing... Equally unfortunate are talibani remarks by eminent reader and support extended by the other... may their souls rest in peace and be together in God's own free environment...

Keeping caste aside, Ladka looks like tapori and why would any sane father give his daughter in hand to any tapori?? At this adolescent age girls don't realize the struggle of life to arrive in later part of life. They tend to choose arbitrary any who comes in their life without realizing anything of future.

Don't judge book by its cover and justify killing is totally unacceptable. Its caste system practice in the community for generations since thousands years is to be blamed.

Ahmed Bhai, a father killing his own daughter just because she fell in love with someone from lower caste, or for whatever reason, is unacceptable; now he will repent for his lifetime for having taken two lives!
