Bantwal, Jun 30: The taluk has experienced significant damage due to continuous rainfall over the past two days. Several incidents have been reported across the region.
In Gudda Thota Khana of Veerakambha village, a tree fell on Revathi's house, resulting in partial damage. Similarly, in Arabbi Gudde Mane, Kasaba village, a coconut tree fell on the residence of Jaya Kulal, son of Ishwara Moolya, causing partial damage early this morning. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in either incident.
Concerned about the safety of residents, the revenue department officials conducted a site inspection at Ajjibettu on B.C. Road, Bantwala, due to the risk of landslides near a house. They visited Raviraj Alva's house and advised him to temporarily relocate to a relative's house as a precautionary measure.
In Ukkuda, Vitla Kasaba village, the house of Kallurtiadka Gauri Yane Saroja sustained partial roof damage.
To assist residents during such natural calamities, a control room has been established at the taluk office. Tahsildar S B. Koodalagi emphasized that the control room's primary function is to manage and respond to the damage caused by natural calamities.
