Fake currency notes: RBI lodges FIR against bank managers in Karnataka

Bengaluru, Jun 30 (IANS): The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has lodged an FIR against bank managers after detecting counterfeit notes in the money remitted to it by these banks, police said on Friday.

According to police, 30 fake currency notes of the denomination of Rs 100 have been found and four FIRs lodged in this regard with Halasuru Gate police station.

Found in Udupi, Manipal, Hubballi bank branches and Malleshwaram branch of Bengaluru, the counterfeit currencies were detected in the money remitted to the RBI by these banks.

RBI Manager Anand had lodged a complaint in this regard against managers of the Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, UBI Bank.

Sources said that the managers of the banks would be issued notice to appear for the inquiry.

More details are yet to emerge in the case.

    This action makes no sense at all: 30 notes of Rs. 100! To me, it appears to be SOME ATTENTION DIVERTING TECHNIQUE OF SOME BIG GOTALA!! BTW, there are news reports of some lacs of crores of Rs. 2000 notes to be out of circulation (lapata), which nobody is talking about!!

    Bank managers' lives are also so risky with these occupational hazards.... 30 notes out of crores of bundles can put them in dock... Not a cozy place to be in at all...

    mostly bank employees and managers mostly of kerala and north indians are involved in these things...even the details of customers are provided to the fraud online people by these people only....so need to be very careful..when i was young we had such good people in canara bank...now all mallu and hindi nagpur agenda...

    Yes, most of these fellows Kerala & North fellows will say "Kannada nahi maloom, Tulu nahi maloom". Those fellows speak in hindi & english, that too broken!!! Makes you wonder what kind of standards the banks adopt when promoting to Managers and officers. When you complain to them about something, they have the biggest egos and will show you attitude. Canara Bank should be named Kairali Bank because there is nothing Carnatic about that bank anymore and it all Keralite now, that too in its birth place = Mangalore. Previously they had good people, now most of them are useless. Same is the case the BoB & UBI.
