Mangaluru, Jun 30: Antony Waste Handling Cell Limited, the company which handles waste management of the city has served legal notice to the MCC (Mangaluru City Corporation) and said that it will not collect garbage from August 1 and has asked MCC to make alternate arrangements.
In the notice, the company said, “The MCC intentionally has kept Rs 68.85 crore pending to be paid to our company. Within seven days of receipt of this notice, the MCC should pay the amount. It has to pay an interest of 18% from the day the amount is kept pending. Also, alternate arrangements needs to be made by the MCC for collecting garbage.”
In the legal notice it is also mentioned that the amount is kept pending in order to make the waste management company agree to the terms of the MCC. Antony Waste Handling Cell Limited also said that they are put in financial difficulties by deducting fine etc from the outstanding amount.
The contract of Antony Waste Handling Cell Limited is going to get over at the end of July 2023. However, their contract is extended for further six months till the tender process is finalized by the MCC in the general body meeting that was held on Wednesday.
