Mangaluru: Nanthoor, KPT flyover construction to commence soon - Nalin Kateel

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Jul 2: MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has directed NHAI officials and MCC authorities to expedite the process of clearing trees, electricity poles, and water pipelines within a week to prepare for the construction of flyovers at Nanthoor and KPT junctions.

Nalin made these remarks during the Disha committee meeting held on Saturday at the auditorium of the zilla panchayat.

Highlighting the importance of timely completion, Nalin mentioned that any delay in the clearing work could result in the contractor requiring more time and increased tender value. Therefore, the initial tasks must be executed promptly.

Nalin also instructed the DC to convene a meeting every 15 days to evaluate the progress of all NHAI-related projects.

"During monsoon, we must ensure that the public does not face inconvenience due to highway work. If the Brahmastana at Brahmarakootlu is relocated, a four-lane road must be constructed in that area. Until then, the service road should be repaired. Barricades can be placed to prevent heavy vehicles from avoiding tolls," Nalin stated.

The MP further requested the removal of the structure of the old toll gate at NITK.

NHAI engineer Anirudda Kamath provided an update, stating, "Out of the 48.48 km highway work from B C Road to Periyashanti, 14.2 km has been completed, with a progress rate of 31.4%. The work on the 8.5 km stretch from Periyashanti to Addahole is 61% complete. These projects are expected to be completed by the end of 2023. The overbridge work at Kalladka is currently 34% complete, and it is projected to be finished by May 2024."

U wod know if u were smart, being an MP for 15 years and just involving yourself in communal politics and spreading hate must have given u lot of satisfaction. God bless u

Nobody is talking about damage to the environment; few remaining trees, some very old, will be chopped off; measures should be taken to cut as few trees as possible, and two new trees should be planted for every 🌳hacked! With hacking of the little remaining green cover, the pollution and local temperature is bound to increase further!!

Timely manner does not mean 10 years, but 5 months like Hinkal (Mysore) Flyover was constructed in less than 6 months. Borrow a leaf from them as they don't have blind adherence to a political party rather development. When will the highway be widened neat Brahmarakotlu? Don't unnecessarily bring in superstitions and gods. God will enlighten our minds if we really seek divine light.
