Tumakuru, Jul 2: On Sunday, a woman who had taken her children to wash clothes near the lake due to the school holiday witnessed a tragic incident. Her two children accidentally fell into the lake while playing, prompting the woman to act swiftly and try to save them.

Despite her heroic efforts, the woman, who couldn't swim, tragically drowned while attempting to rescue her children, sacrificing her own life.

The deceased woman has been identified as Manu (30). The incident occurred at the lake in Rathasandra village of Sira taluk. Manu had taken her two children to wash clothes in the lake, taking advantage of the school holiday on Sunday.

While the children were playing on the banks of the lake, she proceeded with her washing chores. Suddenly, the children slipped into the water, leaving the woman shocked. Without hesitation, she jumped into the lake in an attempt to save them, unaware of her own inability to swim.

Despite her lack of swimming skills, she bravely leaped into the lake and managed to pull her children out. Onlookers assisted her in rescuing the children, but tragically, as she emerged from the lake, she slipped and drowned due to her inability to swim.

Other women who were also present and were unable to swim called for help, but no one came to their aid, resulting in the woman's untimely demise.

After a while, skilled swimmers arrived at the scene and attempted to rescue the woman, but it was too late. By the time help came her way, she had already passed away. The children who had drowned were immediately taken to Sira Taluk Hospital for treatment.

The family members were devastated by the loss of the woman's life, who had gone to wash the clothes but tragically lost her life.

In recent times, we have seen unfortunate incidents where parents in the state have taken extreme steps, such as committing suicide or harming their children due to family problems or alleged infidelity. However, this incident serves as a stark contrast.

Here, a mother, who gave life to her children, courageously risked her own life to save them, ultimately making the ultimate sacrifice. This incident once again exemplifies the profound love and devotion of a mother for her children, as she departed from this world after dedicating her life to rescue them.
