Kundapur, Jul 3: Minister for fisheries Mankala Vaidya said that the ruling Congress government has the will power to iron out the issues of fishermen step by step.
Vaidya spoke to media on Sunday July 2 after viewing the Kodi Kanyana fisheries port.
Vaidya further said, “Sea Erosion issue is there from Kasargod to Karwar. It is not right to give temporary relief. So an expert committee is formed in order to take permanent solution. If temporary relief is needed, then the same will be taken after discussion.
“Fishermen of Kodi Kanyana, Hangarakatte and Bengre are also facing many issues. I am really saddened by their plight. Hence, a joint project will be formed with the participation of both fisheries and ports department to remove the silt etc.
“We need cooperation of union government. The state government grant is not enough to resolve the issues of ports and fishing. So demand will be put across to union government,” he said.
Jayaprakash Hegde, Dr G Shankar, Ananda C Kundar, Adhikya Swamy, Anjana Devi, Srinivasa Murthy, Dias and leaders of fishermen were present.
