Kashmir public Service Panel Biased: Jammu MP

Jammu, Jul 25 (IANS): Charging the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission with corruption and nepotism, Congress MP Madan Lal Sharma Monday said it was discriminating against candidates of Jammu and demanded its reorganisation.

Addressing a public meeting here, Sharma, who represents Jammu in parliament, alleged that the commission had become a "den of nepotism" where merit was being ignored and it was only "obliging influential people".

The recent list of the Kashmir Administrative Services (KAS) was a glaring example of the "nepotism of the public service commission," he said, demanding the panel be reorganised.

"There is a need to reconstitute the public service commission and its members should be honest and men of integrity," Sharma said, adding he will take up this matter with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

"Such an injustice will not be tolerated. The meritorious candidates of Jammu region were dropped from the select list. This is sheer injustice," he alleged.
