Murdered Nepali woman's body found in tank

New Delhi, July 25 (IANS) A 27-year-old Nepali woman was murdered and her decomposed body was found in a water tank of her residence in west Delhi, police said Monday.

"Asha's body was recovered Monday from a water tank on the roof of the house in Baba Haridash Nagar where she had been living for the last one-and-half years," said a senior police officer.

"Prima facie, it seems to be a case of murder," said a police officer, adding that they had not ruled out rape before the killing.

"We are waiting for the autopsy report," said the officer.

The officer said the victim's neighbours informed police about foul smell emanating from the house. "A police team reached on the spot and fished out the body from the tank," added the officer.

According to the neighbours, Asha had been staying on the second floor of the house in a rented accommodation but for two-three days no one had seen her, the officer said.

"A case of murder has been registered," added the officer.
