Kasargod, Jul 4: A protest rally led by the Congress district unit, aimed at reaching the office of the district Superintendent of Police (SP) to denounce alleged false cases filed against KPCC president K Sudhakaran and opposition Leader V D Satheeshan by the Kerala government, turned violent on Tuesday, July 4.

Amidst the demonstration, several individuals, including the district Congress president, sustained injuries as a result of the police employing water cannons and resorting to lathi charge.

The protesters, who had gathered near the district Congress office, were met with barricades placed by the police in front of the SP's office. The protest proceedings were inaugurated by MP Raj Mohan Unnithan.

As the demonstrators attempted to breach the barricades and move forward, the police responded with water cannons and lathi charge. District president P K Faizul and several others were injured in the altercation, while two policemen sustained injuries due to stone pelting.
