Mangaluru, July 5: Suresh Gatty (52), resident of a rented house near Someshwara Pilar had died of drowning in rainwater.

The department of revenue has paid Rs 5 lacs as compensation under the National Calamity Fund from the department's treasury No. two to his family members.

Tahsildar Prabhaker Kharjure, revenue inspector Manjunath K H and municipal council officers visited the spot and conducted an inspection.

The department obtained the post-mortem report of the deceased and submitted the death report to the government before handing over the compensation amount to Shambha, wife of the deceased.
