Udupi: 75-year-old priest enroute to temple meets watery grave in river

Udupi, Jul 4: In an unfortunate incident attributed to the heavy rain that has been pounding the district for the past two days, Sheshadri Aithal (75), a temple priest, drowned in a swollen river and lost his life.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, July 5 at Kamalashile while the priest was enroute to the temple for his regular pooja rituals. Tragically, he slipped and drowned in the rapidly flowing river.

The incessant rain has resulted in water entering low-lying areas, disrupting the lives of the residents. This incident marks the third fatality caused by the rain, causing heightened anxiety among the local population.
