New Delhi, Jul 26 (IANS): In a bid to widen its resource base, Delhi Metro will build an amusement park, an official said Tuesday.
"Delhi Metro will set up a 15 hectare theme park near Shastri Park station in east Delhi through a private operator which will have a variety of recreational facilities, especially for children," a Delhi Metro official said.
The tenders have already been floated and the park should come up within in a year, he said.
With this, the Delhi Metro aims to raise more funds through non-fare means, he said.
The Delhi Metro runs around 2,000 train trips and ferries 1.6 million passengers every day.
