Kasargod: Temple Theft - Furious Hindu Aikyavedi Members March in Protest

Kasargod, Jul 26: Condemning the failure of police in catching the culprits in connection with the theft that occurred at the Bedradka Shree Poomani-Kinnimani temple, a march was organised till the office of Kasargod circle inspector by the Hindu Aikyavedi here on Tuesday July 26.
 
Police stopped the protestors near the entrance of the office, after which they sat on a dharna. Hindu Aikyavedi state vice-president Kuntaru Raveeshtantri speaking on the occasion said that the police and the government had failed to give protection for temples.

He warned if the such incidents repeat, then a youth army will be initiated to extend protection to temples. The walkthon began from Karandakkadu Shree Hanuman Mandir and passed via the new bus stand, M G Road and reached the circle inspector's office.
 
Bedradka Shree Poomani-Kinnimani temple president Prabhakar Alva led the protest. Hindu Aikyavedi leaders Praveen Kodoth, K Dinesh, Harshavardhana Nayak, Umesh Kadappura, Vishnu Aralitthaya, Babu, Appayya Nayak, Tharanath Madhur among others were present.
 
The theft occurred at the temple on July 11. Two ancient panchaloha idols and five golden flowers were stolen. The police have not traced the thieves even after two weeks. There are also allegations that proper investigations are not being conducted.
