It was a solemn moment as ex-servicemen of the city gathereed at the Kadri Park war memorial to pay their respects to Indian soldiers who fought in the Kargil war 12 years ago.

The 12th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas on Tuesday July 26 was organised by the Dakshina Kannada District Ex Servicemen Association and Lions Club Mangalore, Kadri Hills to honour the soldiers who laid down their lives while on duty.

Indo Pak Kargil war was fought by Indians with utmost courage and galore against Pakistan's deceptive proxy war.
After the successful and widely publicized Lahore Bus travel by then PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee and his participation in Lahore summit along with his counter part Pakistani PM Nawaj Sharif, Pakistan back stabbed us with their "Operation Badr", a deceptive operation created by Gen Pervez Musharraf, with the help of other four Generals (incl. Gen Kayani and Gen Ashraf Rashid). Even though Pakistan PM has claimed his innocence, he was believed to be in the loop with the scheming Generals.

India lost precious 500 lives of brave Soldiers, One each, MIG - 21, MIG - 29 and MI - 17 Air Crafts.
From 3rd May 1999, when the Pakistani incursion was reported by Kashmiri shepherds, to 26th July 1999, when the Indian Army d total inhalation of infiltrators from the Indian Territory, a total 84 days of “Operation Vijay” has taught us a lesson, of which our Politicians never learned (or will never learn) to doubt Pakistan's intentions ever after. Jai Hind, Jai Jawan.

We had this war because of weak BJP govt in the centre. If Bofors guns where not there we would have lost more lifes. May the souls of our Brave soldiers rest in peace. Public gave chance to BJP to make Rama Rajya but they failed. Made money on coffins of soldiers. In Karnataka on more failiure, daily corrution scandals.
