Mangaluru, Jul 7: Former minister Ramanath Rai has lauded the budget for 2023-24 presented by chief minister Siddaramaiah, stating that it is the best budget thus far. Rai described it as a rare and exceptional budget that not only addresses the five guarantees but also fulfills 76 promises made in the election manifesto.
Highlighting its inclusive nature, Rai noted that the budget favors various groups within society, including women, youth, and farmers. It ensures equal provisions for all, promoting justice across departments, regions, blocks, and districts. The budget prioritizes the coastal region, bolstering coastal beach tourism and outlining a comprehensive plan for seaside development, he added.
Notably, it envisions transforming Sashihitlu into an international surfing area through public participation, taking coastal Karnataka to new heights, Rai hailed. "Moreover, the budget uplifts fisherwomen's lives by increasing the interest-free loan amount from Rs 50,000 to Rs 3 lacs. Additionally, three districts will benefit from the establishment of Narayana Guru residential schools", he said.
Rai expressed gratitude on behalf of coastal Karnataka, extending his appreciation to Siddaramaiah for these initiatives.
