Mangaluru: City police register 21 cases against social media posts marring public harmony

Mangaluru, July 11: As many as 21 cases have been registered in the City police commissionerate limits and are being investigated against messages regarding religion, community, caste etc over WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter and other apps that spoil communal harmony.

In a press statement issued by the police department, it said all the stations and social media cells in various police stations are monitoring messages for and against religions and watching those who post, share and comment against such messages.

"Legal action is being initiated against such people. Stringent legal action will be taken if the crimes are repeated," the statement said.

The police department said it has warned about messages regarding religion, community, caste etc over WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter and other apps that spoil communal harmony.
