Mangalore, Jul 28: An old building, which contained around five different godowns of reputed stores in the city, was completely on fire around 1 am on Thursday July 28.

Five fire service vehicles and Bunder Police team arrived to the spot to douse the fire and prevent it from spreading further. The fire fighters and police had a tough time bringing the fire under control. They spent almost four hours in the dark tackling the blaze.

The building which had godowns of Liberty, wholesale dealers in stationery, cosmetics and general items, Panchalingeshwara Tyres, among others was reduced to smoldering remains. Undoubtedly the loss of goods in the godown would be worth lacs.

It is suspected that the fire was caused due to short circuit. More investigations would be done to determine the exact cause of the fire.
