Beltangady: Speeding tipper hits seven vehicles, pedestrian girl student seriously injured

Beltangady, Jul 12: Two buses, four cars, one auto rickshaw were damaged due to the negligent driving of a tipper driver. In addition, a girl student who was walking on the road was seriously injured. This incident occurred on Thursday near Bharat Showroom of the city.

Veeksha (17), a resident of Gunderi in Balanja village is the girl who is seriously injured. She is admitted to private hospital in Mangaluru.

The tipper was coming to Guruvayanakere from Ujire. First the tipper hit a bus from behind. Then it hit the front portion of another bus. Due to the impact of the second collision, the tipper suddenly turned towards the showroom and hit pedestrian Veeksha and damaged four cars and an auto rickshaw that were parked in front of the showroom.

Veeksha was stuck under the tipper and got seriously injured. She was admitted to private hospital at Guruvayanakere initially and then taken to Mangaluru for higher treatment.

Veeksha had joined computer training classes at Laila and was going to the same along with her friend. She had completed her PU studies at Venur Government college. Eye witnesses said that another girl escaped coming under the wheels of the tipper by a whisker.

A case if filed against tipper driver Suresh at the Beltangady traffic police station.
