Puttur: Fake documents using duplicate seal of gram panchayat, city municipality – One arrested

Puttur, Jul 12: A man was arrested and hundreds of fake documents were seized from a shop in the city on Tuesday July 11 as the police raided the facility the owner of which was using the duplicate seal of gram panchayat (GP) and city municipality.

The raid was conducted by taluk panchayat EO Naveen based on a complaint that BB Electrical and Plumbing shop that was functioning from M S Complex near Padeelu on Puttur-Uppinangady road.

Vishwanatha B V, resident of Pruvathodi of Kabaka village is arrested in this connection.

Duplicate NOC letterhead of Puttur city municipality, tax payment receipt and all fake documents in the name of all gram panchayats of Puttur, Kadaba, Sullia and Bantwal taluks were found in the shop. More than 50 duplicate seals were also found in the shop.

Accused Vishwanatha is a licenced contractor. He used to prepare duplicate NOC and payment receipt for providing illegal electricity connections to buildings. He used to charge Rs 30000 to Rs 40000 per document. It is said that he has earned lac of rupees through illegal electricity connections to several houses and buildings.

Vishwanath has given duplicate NOC and receipts to countless people. Now the city municipality and police are tracing the extent of the damage done by Vishwanath. There is also a possibility that those who obtained illegal connections will be brought to book.
