Byndoor: 3 held for trying to sell fake substance as Ambergris for Rs 10 lac

Byndoor, Jul 13: Byndoor police have arrested three persons who were accused of trying to sell to people for Rs 10 lac a yellow wax like substance and for making them believe that it is Ambergris from a whale.

The arrested accused are Niranjan (26), a resident of Gandhi Bazaar, Shivamogga, Milan Monis Shetty (27), residing near Rama Mandir temple, Shivamogga and Prathwi Dominic (31), also residing at Shivamogga.

The police have confiscated the substance weighing 3 kilos 910 grams, which resembles the ambergris of a whale.

A case in this connection has been filed with Byndoor police station. Investigations are in progress.

Police personnel have warned that a network of people selling a substance resembling ambergris is active and have requested citixens to inform the police if they come across such people.
