Yeddyurappa Agrees to Step Down, but After July 31

Yeddyurappa Agrees to Step Down, but After July 31

Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore

Bangalore, Jul 28: After much defiance and downright refusal to step down despite BJP high command's orders, Yeddyurappa on Thursday July 28 evening finally decided to resign.

Yeddyurappa sent a formal resignation letter to BJP national president Nitin Gadkari, sources said.

However, he is yet to submit his resignation to the governor. He will tender his resignation to the governor on July 31, because, "according to the Hindu calendar, this Ashadha month from July 2-30 is considered inauspicious to take any important decisions," said an official at the CM's office.

At the same, the resignation is seen as a tactic by Yeddyurappa to show that he was abiding by the high command's decision. Sources said that BJP will take his resignation seriously only after he submits the same to the governor.

His resignation has come after some high drama, including a midnight meeting of the BJP in New Delhi and much shuttling back and forth New Delhi and Bangalore by the CM. Yeddyurappa is still sticking on to his demands for a powerful post in the state BJP, it is learnt and also is adamant on selecting his own candidate as his successor.

It is unclear as to who the BJP high command will appoint as the next CM. Some of the names doing the rounds are those of panchayat raj minister Jagadish Shettar, state BJP president Eshwarappa and Lok Sabha member Ananth Kumar.

Earlier Eshwarappa had told reporters, "As a loyal and disciplined member of the party, Yeddyurappa will obey the decision of the high command and resign soon. Though the chief minister explained his position on the mining issue to the party president (Nitin Gadkari) late Wednesday, Yeddyurappa has no alternative than to step down in conformity with the leadership's decision."

"The party high command advised me to convene a meeting of the party's legislators Friday to elect a new leader in place of Yeddyurappa in the presence of the party's senior leaders Arun Jaitley and Rajnath Singh," he added.

Yeddyurappa had been given time up till 11 pm on Thursday to resign from his post.

NOW THE HIGH COOMAND HAS TO TAKE DECISIONS ABOUT YEDDY THEMSELVES AND NOT LISTEN TO YEDDY ANYMORE. YEDDY HAS NO RIGHT TO ASK OR QUESTION BJP HIGH COOMAND OR DICTATE TERMS TO THEM.

ONLY THING YEDDY HAS TO DO TENDER HIS RESIGNATION AND WAIT NOW TO FACE THE CONSEQUENCES. YEDDY SHOULD BE THROWN BEHIND THE BARS VERY SOON. EVEN THE HIGH COMMAND SHOULD A CM NOT OF YEDDY'S CHOICE BUT THE HIGH COMMAND CHOICE OR YEDDY WILL BE A REMOTE CONTROL TO THE NEW CM AND THE SAME LOOTING LANDS WILL GO ON LIKE BEFORE MINUS YEDDY.

SO NOW THE HIGH COMMAND HAS TO TELL YEDDY NOT TO INTERFERE IN KARNATAKA MATTERS AND JUST TO SHUT HIS MOUTH.

It does not make a difference if Yeddy goes or remain, the fate of karnataka will remain the same. I left my state about 24 years ago but keep on visiting now and then. For me the glory days of the state were in the past! Other thing which ammuses me about Yeddy is whenever he lands in trouble (which is more often now a days) he gestures with a sign of "V" from his car or you will find him feeding sweets to someone or visiting a temple. He looks so brazen and disgusting when he does that! But I admire his perseverance and guts in dealing with BJP so called hicommand

His defiance of not listening to the electorate of Karnataka and to the BJP leadership earlier has caused greater political damage to his own party, and greater economic dilapidation for the state of Karnataka.

About "auspicious" or "inauspicious" day to take any important decisions, we need to take advice from Dr. Abdul Kalam, our former President. For Dr. Kalam, as long as the earth revolved around the sun, any day is auspicious.

By the way, Yeddi need not worry about taking important decision as the decision is already taken by the high command. He has no other option. He can look for auspicious day to reenter, if he is lucky again!

In the end it is a sad story. He was a firebrand opposition leader most of his political life and when he became chief minister there was a lot of hope that he would be an excellent chief minister. Yet in the end power, money, corrupt sons and family and bad company like that of the Reddy brothers corrupted him.

He lost focus got carried away and thought that he was beyond everything and could get away with every kind of graft. He felt self important within the BJP and thought that the high cammand was under his mercy...........A very sad fall indeed. He was ultimately a small town man, honest to a point, but in the end due to many factors which were self inflicted got infected with that dreadful disease called POWER.

The comment was to daijiworld article: Majority of MLAs Stay Away from CM's Meeting, Fissures in Open

A year or two when Mr. Yeddyurappa's chair was pulled back by his security man and he fell down in front of the media and in front of ex President Mr. Malhotra.

Now he fell down he was pulled down by his own men.

    Dear Mr. Nagesh Nayak,
I quote your comment the article Daijiworld
Yeddyurappa will Complete Full Term: BJP High Command
I quote FROM THE DAY ONE OF SWEARING CEREMONY OF SHRIMAAN YEDIYURAPPAJI,
BOTH OPPOSITION LEADERS DEMANDING RESIGNATION OF SHRIMAAN YEDIYURAPPAJI.
Who asked/forced Mr. Yeddyurappa to resign today??? Kindly explain?

I quote another comment to daijiworld news article:

Report is a just a hype, This is nothing but English translation of Lankesh Patrike & Hi Bangalore, we got access of the report, Report is exactly in the same breath as how Mr Santosh Hegde speaks in Public, pausing and faltering. This will not stand when scrutinised by luminairies of law. Mr Hegde wanted publicity, he has made a report by imagination, it is true that those who are named corrupt, no doubt but accusation is based on loose materials and arguements, any LLB student can find fault, Do not forget When He was Supreme court judge he was low profile and anyone knew of him.

Yeddys no ball appeal has been turned down by 3rd umpire Gadkari, and Yeddy has to send his resignation to Gadkari. New C.M. will be elected tommoorow. Still Yeddy has to meet the Governer, but isb ashamed to see his face. Match is over. No more Agni Pariksha's for Yeddy. Failed in bribing God. No one from his community nor Sadhu's stood with him in his bad time. This is bcz of his falls Oath promise at Dharmasthala. The result speaks the truth.
