Bantwal, Jul 15: A cooperative bank member attempted to end life on Saturday July 15. He was later hospitalised.
Guruprasad, a member of Kavalapadoor agricultural service cooperative bank is the person who attempted to die by suicide.
There were several complaints of obtaining loans from Kavalapadoor bank under the names of various people using forged signatures. The high court had ordered the bank to conduct investigation and submit the report to the director of cooperative societies in Mangaluru within eight weeks.
As loans were said to be obtained in the name of Guruprasad also in the bank, an auction notice was issued to him. It is said that he was upset and attempted to end his life after making a video in his mobile phone. He was admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru and is said to be recovering now. Deepa Prabhu, Guruprasad’s wife has filed a complaint at Punjalkatte police station urging action against the management and officers of the bank.
MP and BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel and Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik visited Guruprasad in the hospital and directed the police to undertake suitable investigation.
