Mangaluru, Jul 16: A yellow alert has been declared for the coastal region due to the anticipated heavy rainfall. The yellow alert is in effect for Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada districts from July 16 to 20. Additionally, Chikkamagalur, Shivamogga, Hassan, and Kodagu districts are on yellow alert for July 19 and 20, while Belagavi and Bidar will be on alert on July 20.
As of 8:30 am on Saturday, Shirali recorded the highest rainfall of nine cm. Kundapur received seven cm, Kadra six cm, and Karwar, Mangaluru Airport, Gokarna, Gerusoppa, Joyida, Panambur, Kota, and Uppinangady received four cm. Mangaluru, Mani, Ankola, Jagalabet, Kumta, Manchikeri, Udupi, Londa, and Ourad received three cm of rainfall.
Incidents of landslides and house damage have been reported in the areas of Konaje, Harekala, and Belka. Many low-lying areas are flooded. Gudfal Salam's house in Harekala collapsed due to wind and rain, and Ananda Poojary's house in Amblamogaru village suffered a similar fate. In Belma village, a tree fell on Aboobacker's house, and Mustafa's house was damaged due to a hill collapse. Ramesh's house in Pajeerguthu was also damaged due to a landslide.
