Mangalore, Jul 29:
While men provided firewood women prepared papad and tea on a makeshift oven in front of the district commissioner's office here on Friday July 29.

The unique protest was held by the district Congress leaders to demonstrate the difficulties faced by the common man in the wake of the chaos prevailing in distribution of LPG cylinders.

Addressing the gathering KPCC secretary Ivan D'Souza said that the state government which came to power promising many projects in its manifesto, failed to provide even basic facilities like water supply and electricity.

He added that energy minister Shobha Karandlaje's claim that under her ministry people are most satisfied was hogwash. He urged the state government to distribute LPG cylinders as per the earlier system. The new system has created confusion and problems to the people, he said.

MLA U T Khader addressing the protestors said that right from the day the BJP government came to power, it has not brought into effect any single people-friendly system. He noted that the prevailing problem in LPG cylinder distribution has taken place because of agencies, and public should not suffer because of them. Instead of correcting the fault at the village level, the government has initiated technical way of sorting out by way of ‘verification' through website, he said.

Several citizens who approached the department concerned to set right the problems regarding LPG connections were sent back disappointed, Khader said, and added that if the agencies trigger more problems to people by not distributing LPG cylinders, they can approach any of the Congress activists who will help them.

Congress leaders Ibrahim Kodijal, Shashidhar Hegde, K Ashraf, Nagendra Kumar, Lancelot Pinto, corporator Appi among others were present.

Yeah of course it appears like nonsense but if you see the other side it isn't causing any problem to the general public unlike sangh parivar protests where the skulls are broken, blood is shed, properties are damaged, causing large scale losses on issues which hardly have any importance.

while the demands are genuine,it is futile to expect the politicians to solve these problems, apart from the blame game & cosmetic mudslinging against each other. They unitedly increase their own salaries & perks & are determined to keep the approx.285000 crores black money abroad for their benefit & that of their families. Warren Hastings & Robert Clive were indicted in England for looting the country through the East India Company under the same Westminster bicameral politico legal system adopted by us. After Independence, not a single neta has been punished for corruption. Ex CM Madhu Kode has shown the waytill today the money he allegedly misappropriated is still not recovered. The politicos have realized that smaller states mean more governments & more access to slush funds.

All politicans are involved in a game - 'Ek Se Badhkar Ek Chor'. It is tragedy that common man can only watch their game but cannot expect anything from these politicians. It is high time that all of us should unite and change our society.

It was a good exercise to curb illegal connections. A good number of household have illegal connection, domestic subsidized LPG is used in restaurants/food vendors. Now by regularizing the people of India will save a lots of tax money. Now this is just a teething problem shd be solved in few weeks time. Congress shd nnot make a fuss on this. Good going Ms. Shobha!!!!

Under legal system, a person may be let off for lack of evidence but an innocent should not be punished.

Similary, a single genuine gas holder should not suffer because of the illegal connections.

If a private company acts arbitrarily we can go to consumer courts.

But, in this case we do not have any platform to settle our grievances as the opposite party is the govt.

If the Govt. itself acts so irresponsiblely, who will protect the interest of the common man.

Once they get power, they completely loose connection from the public and become puppets of the beaurocracy.

Congress are finding a reason to brain wash the public people by making all such drama.why didn't the congress govt do necessary steps to supply the basic needs when they were in power ,if they have so much of pity on the poor people.development in village level is also necessary as villagers can take help from city people to go online to the details instead of going behind the congress activists to promote such stupid acts. The concerned dept can make a system by inviting each ward people on certain days to reduce the rush and the problem can be solved without people getting panicked for no reason.villagers will remain the same if they go behind all such drama.Atleast each person is educated in every house of the villages who can open the internet and the details if they are willing to come forward in their life.what is the big issue in this.Latest technology is much more easy and faster.

This is what is called 'running out of ideas'. From a time when even a "lamp-post' could win just by using the 'Congress' name. the party has reached such a NADIR. Cook and wash 'Dirty Linen'. Come up with something constructive Congressmen, Our present Energy Minister might just well be our next Chief Minister!
