Kundapur, Jul 18: A tile-making company and dealer have been fined for supplying low quality tiles to a buyer.
Employee of a nationalised bank, Prakash bought tiles for the renovation of his old house, worth Rs 81158, manufactured by Kajaria, from a retail tile seller situated near Nittoor on NH 66. The tiles that were fixed in hall and bedroom, turned out to be faulty as they got bloated upwards after fixing. When consumer Prakash contacted the seller and asked them to get the same replaced, they gave a lame excuse. When Prakash contacted the manufacturer Kajaria, there was no suitable answer from them too.

Prakash filed a case with District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Udupi for Rs 5.6 lac as compensation for the faulty supply of tiles, loss and mental agony.
The forum which heard the argument and counter argument, ordered Ganesh Marbles and manufacturer Kajaria to pay Rs 50592 of tile purchase cost, Rs 15000 labour cost, Rs 25000 for mental agony and Rs 20000 as cost of litigation.
Lawyer Neel Brian Pereira argued for Prakash.
