Power Game: Time Running Out for BJP

Bangalore, Jul 30: Friday was one of the toughest days in the political history of BJP, as Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa remained defiant and refused to step down from his chair.

As the day progressed, Yeddyurappa supporters came out openly in support of their leader, while on the other hand, another group led by state BJP chief Eshwarappa started playing the number game, which clearly showed the differences in the party which has always claimed to be a 'party with a difference.'

But for the BJP high command, it has been a big headache as it has no choice now than to save its face at the national level, or save its hold on power in Karnataka!

On Monday August 1, before entering into the Parliament session, it has to get rid of Yeddyurappa from the post of Karnataka CM, and not only that, the BJP has to elect the new legislative leader too. In case they fail, they will have no moral right to fight corruption at the national level, and specially its ongoing campaign against the UPA's 2G scam will lose its fizz.

Political experts say that BJP had never looked back when it fired Uma Bharathi, Madan Lal Khurana, Kalyan Singh, Jaswant Singh and others when it felt these leaders (much senior leaders than Yeddyurappa) had crossed boundaries.

But why is it that when it comes to Yeddyurappa, the party is scared? Indeeed, for two reasons, one, because his is the first BJP government in South India, where it needs to expand its presence. If the BJP splits here, the future of BJP in South India is bleak. Secondly, it is the general feeling that Yeddyurappa is a powerful leader not only in terms of people's support, but also when it comes to money power. Now that the Reddys are attached to him like Fevicol, it's not so easy to get rid of Yeddyurappa.

Political pundits also feel that if Yeddyurappa continues to be adamant, BJP will have no option but to expel him from the party. This could create deep trouble for Yeddyurappa himself, as political and democratic instability will be created in the state, and in all possibilities, the state governor and the centre are just waiting for that to happen! If that happens, there is no chance of Yeddyurappa's survival in the hands of H R Bhardwaj, who himself is a senor advocate will use all his cards to send Yeddyurappa to jail on corruption charges, after imposing president rule in the state.

So, now it's up to the BJP central leadership to take the decision quickly, as it is already over 36 hours since the demand for resignation was formally made by the high command. If it goes beyond another 24 hours, then the BJP will surely lose its face at the national level, and its future will be in jeopardy, and only because of one man - Bookanakere Siddalingappa Yeddyurappa!

It’s not just the money transfer from one hand to another or not money made by corruption or robbed from bank locker, but the environmental damage and the damage to the Nature done by these guys to our beloved Earth in Karnataka within a short period of time is much above the limit. It will take years and years to repair... it’s just not repairable within a given period of time. These greedy fellows have cut the stomach of a Hen laying golden eggs. They have cut out the stomach of our Mother India removed out the intestine. Not even Britishers who have ruled India have not done such damage to Mother India during their period of rule. These types of Politicians if allowed to rule for another few years they will also remove Western Ghats from the face of the Earth.

Most of the Iron Ore has gone to China for less price, the neighbour which India is worried all the time for their growth and military power.

Till other day these BJP supporters were praising Justice Hegde (& Anna team) and now suddenly he has become villain just because he has unearthed corrupt BJP people. They should understand that there can not be different yardsticks for different politicians. All corrupt politicians irrespective of political party are enemies of mankind and have to be punished as per the law of land.

Some BJP men are asking why Dharam Singh’s name is not there in this report. Justice Hegde has clarified that it was in Part I report which still holds good and this is Part II report. Why Yedyurappa has not taken action on Part I report? He should have taken action on politicians including Dharam Singh.

Those thieves of mining (Reddys) are crying foul on the report. Whole Karnataka knows that they have looted the state and any number of advertisements in the news paper can not change the public opinion.

BJP High Command has to take assertive action on all these thieves starting from Yedyurappa and pass on the mantle to more honest people like Mr. Suresh Kumar who may be able to bring back the glory of Karnataka.

Yes.,Mr.GANESH,Mangladevi.This is shows the weak political awareness of the people in karnataka.now this is too much, enaf is enough this political drama.is this people shouting, protesting, meetings for the development of karnataka? they want to save their power for gain more in future days.this is rite time to impliment the president rule in Karnataka.because there is no plitical party or the politicians are sincere.the people of karnataka should come out and protest against this dirty politics and politicians.because of the inactive and very weak opposition party.n very slow decision of the governor.if they (opposition party n governor's decision) are inactive then the people should not give a chance to another alliance govt and they should protest for continue of this same government also.this politicians should get new verdict from the people by declaring the election.

Hats off Lokayukta. But the way he investigated the mining lobby is totally biased. Will it be possible for a govt., which is elected 3 years back to go to such an extent in illegal mining. Earlier Congress & JD(S) govt's clearly involved in licensing when it comes to mining. Most of the Congress leaders are involved in this scam but at present they act as if they don't know anything. It's just a conspiracy by Congress to tackle BJP govt, & take hold of Karnataka which is the important revenue generating state in the country. Anyways long live BJP since i saw many infrastructure developments either in Mabgalore or Bangalore under BJP rule which is not done for the past 60 years.

@Nagesh Nayak...I read your comments regularly, even though sometimes you have a point to say, but most of the time you make a fool of yourself by supporting the corrupt politicians. At-least have a broad mind and think that these people are taking our resources without paying the actual duties, while this money would have been used for the development of the state and nation.

It applies to the central govt as well. Nagesh Nayak would you be happy if your brother shares your fathers property with your neighbour without giving you a share....Will you still praise your brother...Stop supporting corrupt politicians..
