Mangaluru, Jul 22: Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has urged union railway minster to name the popular trains of the city after eminent personalities and places of coastal Karnataka. He has written a letter to union railway minster Ashwini Vaishnav in this regard. Nalin urged the minister to name the train that runs between Bengaluru and Kannur via Mangaluru as Rani Abbakka Express.
In addition, Nalin also urged to name Thiruvananthapuram-Mumbai LTT train as Netravati Express and Ernakulam-Hazrat Nizamuddin train as Mangala Lakshadweep express.
In his letter Nalin said that people of coastal region are pressurizing to name the trains after eminent personalities, places and rivers of the locality. He also asked to name the Bengaluru-Mangaluru train that goes via Mysuru as Mangaladevi express.
In his letter, Nalin also has requested the union railway minister to name Mangaluru Central-Madgaon train as Sauparnika Express, Mangaluru Central-Coimbatore junction intercity express as Tulunadu intercity express, MGR Chennai central-Mangaluru central train as Tejaswini express, Chennai Egmore-Mangaluru central express as Chandragiri express, Mangaluru central-Thiruvananthapuram central express as Karavali express, Mangaluru junction-Vijayapura express as Hemavati express and Mangaluru central-Kacheguda express as Phalguni express.
