Mangaluru, Jul 22: “Manipur is a small state and an ethnic clash is in progress from over two months now. Moreover, 150 deaths have taken place and more than 400 people have suffered injuries in the violence. The BJP government failed to control the unrest in Manipur,” said former minister B Ramanath Rai.
Addressing an agitation organised by Samana Manaskara Sangatenegala Okkuta here on Saturday, July 22, Rai further said, “Two women were paraded naked and that is really shameful. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is completely silent on the Manipur issue. When such violence was in progress, the Prime Minister was busy in foreign tour.”
Rai also added that the Prime Minister is also silent on the female wrestlers’ alleged sexual harassment by BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Like-minded organizations should come forward to condemn such kind of inhumane acts, he said.
Roy Castellino said, "What is happening in Manipur is really shameful. Taking responsibility, the Prime Minister of the country and chief minister of Manipur should resign. Such type of administration is really dangerous. Parading women naked is a shameful act. It is an insult to the country. The entire world is shocked about the incident but the Prime Minister remained silent. Like-minded people should come forward to defeat this BJP government and their rule, the way it happened in the recent state elections".
Activist Munir Katipalla said, "The BJP government failed to control the violence in Manipur. The administration has failed to control the violence or they are silently promoting it. The BJP government in Manipur has failed to implement law and order in the state. Though such inhumane and gruesome incidents took place, the BJP leaders have remained silent.”
He also alleged that the internet service has been stopped in Manipur to hide such incidents.
Sunil Kumar Bajal and other leaders were present. Several nuns and priests took part in the protest.
