I am Not in Chief Ministerial Race: Dr V S Acharya

Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore

Bangalore, Jul 30: Dr V S Acharya, member of legislative council and Karnataka minister for higher education told Daijiworld correspondent in Bangalore that he was not in the chief ministerial race.

"Let me make it clear to you that I am not among the CM candidates as reported in the media," he said.

When asked about CM Yeddyurappa's condition before the BJP high command that either he or Sadanand Gowda must be made his successor if he has to resign, Acharya steered clear of the issue and said that he was not aware of any such statements by the CM.

"All I want to say is, everyone in the BJP is united. The chief minister's resignation is ready, and anytime tomorrow he would submit his papers. There's no confusion in this regard. There is no split in the BJP, only some delayed action because there are some MLAs who want Yeddyurappa to continue as CM. But Yeddyurappa will abide by the high command's decision," he said.

The BJP's disciplined, non-corrupt and soft-hearted leader Dr V S Acharya's name has come up every time CM Yeddyurappa chair's has been in trouble. Known to be close to Yeddyurappa, Dr Acharya has vast political experience and has been a minister in the Kumaraswamy and Yeddyurappa coalitian government in various capacities.

He has also served as home minister of state for two years.

How much Dr. V.S. Acharya has strugled when he was in Janatha Party every one knows, My family has supported him very much during election for Assembly & parliament despite all odds. He was a honest guy free from any scandals, I wonder why Yeddy removed from Home Ministry? God bless him, I dont think he will get chief Ministership. 99% it will be Sadananda Gowda. Who ever may be the C. M. if he has to servive, he has to withdraw false charges against Christians in Mangalore, else their fate will same as Yeddy.

Having known Dr.Acharya for many years, first as a patient in his clinic in Kalmady and later seeing him work tirelessly for Udupi and state, I really hope he takes up this challenge and clean Karnataka. It will be a tall order to expect cleanup but corruption can be tackled only if top leader's integrity is never in question.

For political reasons he has been a shadow behind Yeddyurappa all these years, but time has come for him to move outside of Yeddy's shadow and assert himself and take charge.

When he was made Medical Education minister initially, everyone asked what can he do in such a tiny portfolio. But in a single year Acharya started six government Medical Colleges in Karnataka which is a staggering feat by itself.

And people of Udupi know his commitment to good causes as every home in Udupi now gets uninterrupted water supply which was because of Swarna Water Supply scheme championed by Acharya.

    Any good luck to Doctor.

When we consider VSA's seniority,he is deserving the coveted seat of CM.However due caste politics consideration CM will be either from Vakkaliga or lingayath community.
On the other hand Congress can only bring to coveted post to average 'KARYAKARTHA'-instance Sri Moodbidri Veerappa Moily who's community strength is negligible! In India to become CM or PM one should have strong caste based backing but Cong & CPM are exception! One important development in this crisis of BJP is all named for CM chair are from Dakshina Kannada- DVS,VSA,SHOBAKKA ......

I think Dr V S Acharya is the right person to replace Yeddy. The BJP has the support of majority and it will be detrimental to the progress of Karnataka if UPA comes back to power.
