Bantwal, July 25: The rainfall that continued on Monday here has caused widespread destruction.
A portion of the Kindi dam at Lingottu was washed away. The water level at Netravati river was 7.8 meters in the morning. Due to the inflows, the level of the river was 8.3 meters in the evening.
More than 15 houses were inundated with flood water. People of the houses were shifted. Mangaluru assistant commissioner Harshavardhan and tahsildar S B Koodalagi visited the dam site. Tahsildar and revenue inspectors are stationed at B C Road.
More than 75 areca plants were washed away at Uli village. Hill caved in on the house of Vishwanath at Irvathur village.
A tree fell on the compound wall of Odiyoor Anganwadi. The temporary house of Arati at Naduvalachil was also damaged and they have all been shifted to the house of their relatives living nearby.
