Udupi, Jul 26: Manipal police have arrested three drug peddler students and seized 2.1 kilos of ganja valued at Rs 1.1 lac from an apartment in Manipal and Herga Saralebettu on Tuesday, July 25.
The students arrested are identified as Ayush Raj (21) who hails from Bihar, Vinay Kumar Singh (20) of Hyderabad and Mayaas Chandel (18) of Uttar Pradesh.
Drug peddlers Ayush Raj and Mayaas Chandel used to buy ganja from their friend Srikanth Malik and they intended to sell them to students and make a profit for which they had stored the drugs in the apartment, it is learnt.
A case has been registered in Manipal police station.
As the new academic year is under way the police have continued their search operations in various parts of the district to investigate and nab the drug trail, superintendent of police said.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of SP H Akshay Machindra, Additional SP Siddalingapa and in the presence of DySP Dinakar K P and under the leadership of Manipal station inspector Devaraj T V, PSI Abdul Kadar, DySP of excise department Ashok H, Manipal police station personnel Abdul Razak, Imran, Channesh, Manjunath Jain, Ananda and technical staff personnel in SP's office Dinesh.
