Reconciliatory Policy being Pursued for Stability: Gilani


Islamabad, Aug 1 (IANS): Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said he is pursuing a policy of reconciliation for promoting political and economic stability in the country.

Speaking at function in Karachi, Gilani said stability in Karachi is imperative for strengthening economy in the country, which then leads to overall political stability.

His remark was in reference to Karachi witnessing large scale violence over the past few weeks.

Gilani said for the first time in the history of Pakistan it would be able to earn $25 billion through exports, Associated Press of Pakistan reported.

He said the country's forex reserves have exceeded $18.20 billion mark and these continue to rise at a reasonable rate.

The prime minister said the remittances from Pakistanis abroad are also touching an all time high mark of $12 billion and despite serious internal and external challenges "we have been able to make progress".
