Karachi to Give 375,000 Flour Bags to Its Poor


Islamabad, Aug 1 (IANS): Karachi will provide 375,000 bags of flour at subsidised rates everyday to the poor during Ramzan, an official said.

Mohammad Hussain Syed, a senior official, said the administration has finalised arrangements and the cost of each 10 kg flour bag would be Rs.210.

He said these floor bags would be provided in squatter settlements and those inhabited by low-income groups.

Flour will not be sold through flourmills' outlets and the flourmills would provide the commodity to the food department, the Daily Times reported.

Islamabad under its Ramazan Relief Package has provided a subsidy of Rs.2.26 billion, including Rs.1 billion subsidy for Karachi.
